The fine print
Privacy Policy &
Affiliate Disclosure
Captain J.J. insists on full transparency. It is, he says, the only honourable policy at sea.

The Captain has reviewed this document and found it satisfactory. He wishes to state for the record that he does not collect your data personally, has no interest in your browsing history, and considers targeted advertising to be beneath his dignity. What follows is the official policy of TheMagicalNavigator.com, issued under his authority and approved with two anchors out of a possible five — docked for the necessity of legal language, which he finds tedious.
The Magical Navigator participates in affiliate marketing programs. This means that some links on this site are affiliate links — if you click one and make a purchase, we may receive a small commission from the retailer or service provider at no additional cost to you.
We currently participate in, or may participate in, affiliate programs including but not limited to:
- Amazon Associates Program
- Get Your Guide affiliate program
- Booking.com affiliate program
- Other travel, gear, and cruise-related affiliate programs
This disclosure is made in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s guidelines on endorsements and testimonials in advertising (16 CFR Part 255) and applies to all content on TheMagicalNavigator.com including blog posts, reviews, social media, and email newsletters.

The Captain’s position is this: we only link to things we have actually used, genuinely recommend, or would confidently suggest to a fellow sailor. An affiliate commission does not change our opinion. We have given three-anchor reviews to things we earn commissions on, and we would do it again. Honesty is non-negotiable. The Captain has standards.
Affiliate links are how independent blogs like this one stay afloat (nautical pun fully intended). We appreciate your support — clicking through our links costs you nothing and helps keep Captain J.J. in deck chairs.
From time to time, The Magical Navigator may publish sponsored posts, partnered content, or press trip coverage. Any content that has been sponsored, gifted, or otherwise compensated will be clearly labelled at the top of the post with a disclosure such as “This post was produced in partnership with [Brand]” or “This trip was hosted by [Company].”
Sponsored content does not guarantee a positive review. Captain J.J. has issued critical anchor ratings on sponsored experiences before and will do so again without hesitation. Our editorial voice is not for sale. Our deck chair, however, is negotiable.
